Steubenville Officials Working on Exit Plan for Sunset Boulevard Site

Steubenville officials say they are working with the Woda Group on an exit plan for the Sunset Boulevard property where a senior housing development had been planned.

The developer withdrew from the project after construction crews discovered human remains associated with a former Catholic cemetery at the site. City officials say work at the property is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

Ohio Increasing Pay for Attorneys in Death Penalty Cases

Ohio is increasing the hourly compensation provided to attorneys appointed to defend people facing the death penalty.

The rate will increase from $140 to $165 per hour beginning in late November. The state’s Capital Case Attorney Fee Council cited inflation and increasingly complex cases as reasons for the change.

Fiesta Celebrating 90 Years in Newell

Fiesta Tableware Company is celebrating 90 years of its iconic dinnerware, which has been produced in Newell, West Virginia, since 1936. Generations of local families have worked at the Newell factory throughout the company’s history.

The anniversary coincides with Fiesta’s fall tent sale, running Thursday through Sunday. A special 90th birthday celebration is scheduled for Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., featuring auctions, games, prizes and opportunities to paint plates.
