River News: Jefferson County Traffic Alert

JEFFERSON COUNTY, OH — Motorists in Jefferson County should prepare for a long-term road closure beginning June 1 as the Ohio Department of Transportation announces a 70-day shutdown of a portion of State Route 213 for a roadway realignment project.

According to ODOT District 11, the closure will impact the section of SR 213 located south of County Road 56 near Island Creek. Construction crews will be working to realign part of the roadway, and traffic will not be permitted through the work zone during the project.

Drivers will be detoured using State Route 7 north to State Route 152 west, then back to SR 213, with the same route used in reverse for returning traffic.

ODOT says the closure is expected to remain in place for approximately 70 days, weather permitting, and motorists are encouraged to allow extra travel time and use caution in the area.

River News will continue to follow updates on this project and share any schedule changes as they become available.
