West Virginia Kicks Off America250 Celebration with New Merchandise and Statewide Bell-Ringing Event

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Governor Patrick Morrisey has announced the next phase of West Virginia’s America250 celebration, unveiling a new line of commemorative merchandise and launching a statewide bell-ringing initiative ahead of the nation’s 250th birthday.

The new America250 collection features patriotic-themed apparel, hats, mugs, coins, ornaments, pins, and other keepsakes celebrating America’s semiquincentennial. Officials say the merchandise will be available at West Virginia State Park gift shops and online, with additional items expected to be released in the coming weeks.

Governor Morrisey is also encouraging communities across the Mountain State to participate in the America250 Bell-Ringing Initiative. The statewide effort calls for churches, schools, veterans organizations, civic groups, and local communities to ring bells simultaneously at noon on July 4, 2026.

Organizers say the event is intended to honor the signing of the Declaration of Independence while celebrating the freedoms and history that shaped the United States.

Preparations also continue for West Virginia’s four-day America250 Capital City Celebration in Charleston. Plans include a large-scale 3D light projection show that will illuminate the State Capitol, inspired by similar displays held in Washington.

State officials say events and activities are being planned throughout West Virginia to ensure residents from every region can take part in the historic anniversary celebration.

River News will continue providing updates on America250 events and celebrations happening across the Ohio Valley and Mountain State.
