BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio — Emergency crews responded to a serious rollover crash Monday night on New Cut Road in Belmont County after reports indicated a vehicle had overturned and a person was trapped inside.
The accident was reported shortly after 10 p.m., with initial dispatch information indicating the vehicle was on its side and that injuries had been sustained.
Firefighters, EMS personnel, and law enforcement officers were dispatched to the scene. Due to the severity of the initial report, a medical helicopter was contacted and placed on standby.
However, after first responders arrived and assessed the situation, officials advised that air medical transport would not be needed. MedFlight was subsequently canceled approximately 10 minutes after the initial dispatch.
EMS crews treated the injured individual at the scene before transporting them by ambulance to a local hospital. The patient was en route to the hospital by approximately 10:39 p.m.
The extent of the injuries has not been released, and no additional information about the cause of the crash was immediately available.
The incident remains under investigation.
