FAIRMONT, W.Va. — Two Marion County men have been indicted on multiple charges in separate cases involving the alleged sexual abuse of minors.
According to indictments returned by the Marion County Grand Jury, 26-year-old Connor Garoutte of Fairview is accused of engaging in sexual acts with a minor in 2025. Court documents allege the incidents occurred in Marion County and involved a juvenile victim with reported mental disabilities. Garoutte was indicted on charges including second-degree sexual assault and second-degree sexual abuse.
In a separate case, 61-year-old Thomas Scritchfield of Fairmont was indicted on numerous felony charges stemming from allegations that a juvenile victim was sexually abused over several years.
Court records state the allegations were disclosed during a forensic interview conducted through local child advocacy services. The indictment includes multiple counts of first-degree sexual assault and sexual abuse by a parent, guardian or custodian.
Both cases remain active in the court system.
The allegations contained in the indictments have not been proven in court, and both men are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
