One Dead, Three Airlifted Following Head-On Crash in Holmes County

HOLMES COUNTY, Ohio — A Sunday evening crash in Holmes County claimed the life of one person and left three others seriously injured, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers responded to the scene on U.S. Route 62 near Township Road 626 at approximately 8:41 p.m. on June 21.

Preliminary findings indicate a 2016 Honda Pilot was traveling westbound when it crossed the center line and collided head-on with an eastbound Jeep Cherokee.

Authorities identified the driver of the Honda as 49-year-old Renee Troyer of Millersburg. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Jeep, a 32-year-old adult, suffered serious injuries and was flown by medical helicopter to an Akron-area hospital for treatment.

Two juvenile passengers riding in the Jeep were also airlifted from the scene in critical condition.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the crash. No additional information has been released at this time.
