Trump Jokes With Reporter About Air Force One Amid Rising Tensions With Iran

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump made a lighthearted remark to reporters aboard Air Force One Wednesday while discussing security concerns as tensions between the United States and Iran continue to escalate.

When asked about the possibility of Iran targeting the presidential aircraft, Trump said threats against him are a constant part of the job.

“I’m number one on their list, before you,” Trump told reporters. “But if I go, you go. So, perhaps some of you want to change professions.”

The exchange came as Trump traveled aboard the current Air Force One rather than a newer aircraft that has recently drawn public attention.

The comments followed renewed military tensions between the United States and Iran after the U.S. carried out strikes it said were aimed at degrading Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to U.S. Central Command, the military operation targeted capabilities linked to threats against international maritime traffic after recent attacks on commercial vessels in the region.

Iranian officials responded with strong warnings, saying the country would continue to defend its interests and suggesting that nations supporting U.S. military actions could face consequences if the conflict expands.

The renewed tensions have raised concerns about stability in the Middle East and contributed to higher global oil prices as investors monitor developments surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important energy shipping routes.

U.S. officials have not announced any additional military operations, but the situation remains fluid as both Washington and Tehran continue exchanging warnings.
