BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio — A 20-year-old woman is facing an aggravated murder charge following a death investigation in Belmont County.
Belmont County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Buttermilk Road in Belmont on Friday, July 31, to investigate a reported death. One adult was taken into custody in connection with the case.
Authorities identified the suspect as Autum Stotelmyer, 20. She was taken to the Belmont County Jail and charged with one count of aggravated murder. Her initial court appearance was pending.
Officials have not released the identity of the victim or details surrounding what led to the death. Authorities said information was being withheld while the investigation remained active and family notifications were being completed.
The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is assisting the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office with the case. The Richland Township Police Department also assisted.
Authorities said there is no continuing threat to the public related to the incident.
Additional information from investigators was expected to be released Monday, Aug. 3.
