JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ohio — The Buckeye Local High School band is kicking off a new school year with music, food and community support following a busy week of band camp.
The band held its Back to School Bash on Sunday at Buckeye Local High School, giving students an opportunity to perform the pregame and halftime material they spent the week preparing.
The Buckeye Local Band Boosters also hosted a chicken dinner fundraiser during the event. Meals were sold for $20, with proceeds going directly toward supporting the high school band program.
Band Director Chuck Eddy said the event gives families and community members a chance to see the work students have put in while also bringing supporters of the program together.
Students had just completed a week of band camp, where they spent time preparing music and performances for the upcoming season.
Plans for the event originally included a school supply distribution, but inclement weather forced organizers to postpone that portion of the bash.
The school supplies are expected to be distributed at a later date.
