WHEELING, W.Va. — A power outage was reported Tuesday morning in portions of Ohio County, including areas near Route 88 and Edgewood.
Initial reports around 7 a.m. indicated electrical lines were sparking near Bethany Pike, prompting a response from the fire department. After investigating, firefighters reportedly found tree limbs that had fallen onto power lines along Edgewood.
The outage appeared to affect a larger portion of the surrounding area, although the full extent of the outage was not immediately clear.
Traffic signals in some affected areas were also reported to be without power. Drivers should use caution when approaching intersections where signals are not operating and treat those intersections as four-way stops.
The outage comes amid several power and communications disruptions reported across the Wheeling area Tuesday morning.
Additional information about the number of customers affected and an estimated restoration time was not immediately available.
