Ohio Expanding OhioSEE Vision Program Into Rural Communities Statewide

FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ohio — Ohio officials welcomed Dr. Mehmet Oz to Hopewell Elementary School in Franklin County this week to highlight the success of the OhioSEE program and announce a major expansion aimed at helping more children across the state receive eye exams and glasses.

According to state leaders, the expansion will bring OhioSEE services into rural communities statewide through the Rural Health Transformation Program, increasing access to vision screenings and corrective eyewear for children who may otherwise go without needed care.

Officials said the program is designed to identify vision problems early so students can perform better in the classroom and avoid learning challenges connected to undiagnosed eyesight issues.

“More kids will get eye exams and glasses if they need them,” state leaders said during the visit, crediting support from Dr. Oz and the Trump Administration for helping move the expansion forward.

The OhioSEE program has focused on helping students receive professional vision care directly connected to their schools, especially in underserved areas where families may have limited access to pediatric eye care providers.

State officials say expanding the program into rural Ohio could make a significant difference for students in smaller communities by improving both health outcomes and educational success.

Additional details on the Rural Health Transformation Program and OhioSEE expansion are expected to be released in the coming months.
