West Virginia Tourism Officials Expect Strong Summer at State Parks

Tourism officials in West Virginia say they remain optimistic the state will see another strong summer season at its state parks and forests.

According to state tourism leaders, West Virginia’s state parks system generated approximately 40 million dollars in revenue last year, continuing a trend of increased outdoor travel and recreation across the Mountain State.

Officials say visitors continue to be drawn to West Virginia for its scenic landscapes, hiking trails, camping, fishing, and outdoor adventure opportunities. Popular destinations include parks featuring lakes, waterfalls, cabins, and resort lodging that attract both in-state travelers and tourists from surrounding states.

Tourism leaders say recent investments in park infrastructure, cabin renovations, lodge improvements, and recreational amenities have helped boost visitation numbers in recent years. State officials also point to national interest in outdoor tourism as a major factor driving continued growth.

The summer travel season is traditionally one of the busiest times of the year for West Virginia’s parks system, with officials expecting campgrounds, hiking areas, and vacation lodges to see heavy traffic throughout the coming months.
