BARNESVILLE, Ohio — A Barnesville Chamber of Commerce board member is calling on the community to pick up a paintbrush and contribute to a tile mural celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary, according to Barnesville Area News.
The project, titled “Barnesville America 250 History,” will feature roughly 350 four-inch painted tile squares assembled into an 8-by-8-foot mural to be displayed on the retaining wall of the West Main Street parking lot. The effort is part of a broader collection of downtown murals supported by a Belmont County Tourism grant and corporate backing from Grenadier Energy Partners III.
Participation is already building. Local Girl Scout troops and students from Barnesville Heritage Early Learning Center have signed on, and a recent paint-and-sip event at the Blue Moon Tavern’s Bier Garten drew about 25 volunteers who completed nearly 40 tiles — roughly 10 percent of the total needed.
Individual artists and community organizations are welcome to join in, with participants free to create their own designs. Completed tiles must be turned in by the end of May.
