TOLEDO, Ohio — A Toledo woman previously convicted of faking cancer and collecting tens of thousands of dollars in community donations is facing a new theft charge, this time connected to money raised for the families of two fallen police officers.

Lisa Titkemeier is scheduled to appear in court last Thursday, according to documents filed by the Lucas County Prosecutor’s Office. Prosecutors allege she failed to turn over all of the money collected from lemonade and hot cocoa stands organized in 2020 to benefit the families of Toledo police officers Anthony Dia and Brandon Stalker, who were killed in the line of duty.

In July 2020, Titkemeier’s then-8-year-old son raised about $1,000 through a lemonade stand for Dia’s family. Months later, the pair raised an estimated $13,000 through cocoa stands following Stalker’s death. The misdemeanor theft charge filed this week covers that same period.

The new charge comes after Titkemeier was sentenced last year to six months in jail and placed on probation for a separate felony case. In that case, prosecutors said she falsely claimed to have cancer and raised more than $25,000 in donations from the community. It was later revealed she had never been diagnosed with the disease.

Titkemeier remains on probation for that conviction.
